A man has been arrested after armed police were deployed in a village near Swindon.

The force says firearms specialists were only called in “as a precaution”.

Numerous police cars, including armed response vehicles and unmarked cars, were spotted parked in Kite Hill and other nearby roads.

Wiltshire Police said that following “some negotiation”, the man was arrested on suspicion of two counts of burglary and remains in custody at this time.
