Swindon man arrested at Chippenham railway station after paedophile hunter sting

A man has been arrested on suspicion of child sex offences in Chippenham.

The suspect, from Swindon, is alleged to have arranged to meet a 12-year-old girl at the railway station, in Station Road, at around 10am this morning (24 April).

Paedophile hunters detained the man, who is believed to be aged 27, following a sting.

45 minutes after the suspect was confronted by the group, police arrived at the scene and arrested him.

He has been taken to Melksham custody, where he is being held on suspicion of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and sexual communication with a child.

The alleged communication was with a paedophile hunter, not a real child.
