Road near Fairford closed as man suffers serious injuries falling from mobility scooter

A main road just over the Wiltshire border has been closed following a serious crash.

Emergency services were called reports that a man had fallen from a mobility scooter on the A417 this afternoon (14 March).

Following the incident near Poulton at 4.30pm, the stretch of road between between Cirencester and Fairford has been shut by police.

Wiltshire 999s understands the closure is for collision investigation work to be carried out.

The casualty has been airlifted to Southmead Hospital with serious injuries.

In an update at 8pm, Gloucestershire Constabulary said the road remains closed.

It’s likely to be shut until the early hours of Tuesday morning (15 March).
