Firefighters save The Crammer wildlife after Luton van is engulfed in flames on A361

Firefighters have extinguished a blaze involving a van on the A361 in Devizes.

The Luton van caught fire closed to The Crammer pond at around 5.20am this morning (14 March).

A fire crew from Devizes quickly responded to reports of the incident in Estcourt Street and extinguished the flames.

Firefighters also used Dammitt putty and a boom “to prevent contamination of the Crammer and its wildlife”, according to a Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.

The fire was put out by one breathing apparatus wearer, one hose reel jet and a 52mm jet.
