Early morning crime scene after man attacked in Swindon town centre

A man has been arrested after an early morning assault in Swindon town centre.

Emergency services were called to Fleet Street at around 1.15am this morning (6 March) following reports of a man having been attacked.

An area near to The Sir Daniel Arms was cordoned off as a crime scene for about two hours, whilst police investigated the incident.

The victim, in his 30s, was taken to Great Western Hospital for treatment for a head injury. However, he has since been discharged.

Wiltshire Police say a 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station.

“Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police should call 101, quoting crime reference 54220023187”, a force spokesperson said.

Adding: “Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
