Police immediately combed the area with the support of a dog unit, with the road and nearby alleyways cordoned off as a crime scene.

Two 15-year-old girls have since been arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and are currently in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Scott Anger said: “This is a concerning incident and we would urgently like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what took place.

“This is quite a busy road so we would ask any drivers with dash cams who might have been driving that way at the time of the incident to forward us any footage they may have recorded.”

Anyone with information should call Wiltshire Police on 101 quoting log 54220017446.
