Boy, 11, left shaken after robbery by men with covered faces in Wroughton

An 11-year-old boy was the victim of a robbery in Wroughton yesterday (20 January) and police are appealing for information.

Between 4.30pm and 4.50pm on Thursday, the victim was walking to Tesco at the Ellendune Shopping Centre and as he walked down the alleyway between Wharf Road and the shopping centre he became aware of two men, believed to be approximately 18-years-old walking towards him.

The two men approached the boy and pushed him to the chest, causing him to fall backwards. They made off with the victim’s bank card from his pocket and ran in the direction of the shops at the Ellendune Centre.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “The victim is just 11-years-old and was extremely shaken up following the incident.

“We are making progress with our enquiries and we will be increasing patrols in the area but unfortunately, at this time we do not have any witnesses.

“I’d be really keen to speak to anyone who either witnessed the incident, or saw the two men involved prior to, or after the robbery.

“Both men are believed to be aged around 18, they were both wearing dark clothing and their faces were mostly covered.”
