New Year’s Day knock: Police raid property in search of assault suspect

Wiltshire Police have raided a property in Swindon on New Year’s Day 2022.

Around half a dozen officers attended an address in Raleigh Avenue, Walcot, shortly before 1pm today (1 January).

Armed officers were among policing teams tasked to search for a wanted suspect at a flat – thought to have links to them.

Several police vehicles could be seen parked in Lennox Drive and Hereford Close as officers attempted to take the occupants by surprise.

The force confirmed their raid related to a person wanted in connection with an assault – but they weren’t able to find the alleged offender.

“This is part of ongoing enquiries to locate a suspect in connection with a domestic assault”, a spokesperson said.

Adding: “No arrests have been made at this point.”
