Car driver arrested after Amesbury motorcyclist, 40s, killed in Dinton collision

A motorcyclist has died following a collision in Dinton last night (22 December).

The incident happened at approximately 7pm on Hindon Road near to the Wyndham Pub.

A Volkswagen Touran collided with a motorcyclist. The rider, a man in his 40s from Amesbury, died at the scene.

His family has been informed and are being supported by a specialist trained family liaison officer.

The driver of the Volkswagen – a man in his 40s from Mere – was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is currently in Melksham custody.

The road was closed until the early hours of today (23 December) for collision investigation work.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the collision taking place.

“We are also really keen to speak to anyone who may have dash cam footage from the Hindon Road area between 6.45pm and 7.20pm last night – you may have footage which could be significant to our investigation.”
