Crashed car removed from Swindon stream during two-hour recovery operation

A crashed car was removed from a small stream in Swindon during a recovery operation.

Emergency services responded to reports of a road traffic collision in St Paul’s Drive, Covingham, at around 5.40pm last night (15 December).

Police vehicles and an ambulance were in attendance, but the occupant/s were uninjured in the ditch smash.

Local residents report seeing a lorry and a trailer at the scene at around 9pm as recovery work was underway to remove the vehicle from Dorcan Stream.

“That’s why we want more police patrols around here”, one angry local exclaimed. Adding: “Fed up with St. Paul’s being used as a car park and race track.”

No arrests were made, Wiltshire Police has confirmed.

A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 5.40pm yesterday (15/12) we were called to a single-vehicle road traffic collision on St Paul’s Drive in Covingham.

“Thankfully nobody was injured but recovery was required to pull the car out of a ditch.

“The scene was clear by around 9.30pm.”
