Firefighters put out play park blaze in Swindon as ‘kids seen running away’

Firefighters were called to extinguish a play park blaze in Swindon this morning (20 November).

Youths were reportedly seen running from the scene in Eastlake, Tadpole Garden Village, at around 7.30am.

A fire crew arrived shortly before 8am and the flames were quickly put out, leaving a wooden climbing frame — with an attached slide — completely destroyed.

Witnesses report seeing two youths acting suspiciously in the park before the event.

It’s said they were later spotted running away, along Greene Street, as the blaze took hold.

Wiltshire Police is understood to be investigating, with officers attending the scene at around 8.30am.
