Man, 94, trapped in lift until firefighters rescued him more than two hours later

Firefighters rescued an elderly man from a lift in Bradford on Avon this afternoon (19 November).

The 94-year-old man has been trapped in the lift in a property in Bridge Yard for two and a half hours when a fire crew arrived to rescue him.

The Bradford on Avon firefighters released the gentleman shortly after 2pm and taped the lift until it could be fixed by engineers.

“Given the time he had been trapped in the lift we checked him over and made sure he was okay”, a spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

Adding: “He was left in the very good care of his wife and son with a nice deserved cup of tea!”
