Wiltshire Police refused to name the venue in which the incident occured.

Inspector David Tippetts, of the Swindon Central South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We take all reports of suspected drink spiking extremely seriously.

“No person should feel unsafe when going for a night out in our communities and we have dedicated night-time patrols in response to public concerns.

“Drink spiking is incredibly serious and could have catastrophic consequences. It is not something that should be taken lightly or thought of as a prank.

“We continue to work with our partner agencies and venues and have operations such as Project Vigilant as part of our preventative approach to tackling this type of offence.”

At this stage of our investigation, there is nothing to suggest this incident was caused by an injection spiking.
