Police helicopter joins pursuit before fleeing suspects crash in Amesbury

The police helicopter has been involved in a pursuit that ended with a crash in Amesbury.

A lane on the A303 westbound has been closed whilst emergency services deal with the incident and recover the vehicle involved.

The National Police Air Service aircraft from Bournemouth was seen circling the area shortly before 4pm.

The chase ended when the vehicle officers were pursuing collided with the central reservation on the A303.

“Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently being transported to custody”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed.

Adding: “There may be delays in the area while the vehicle is recovered and the carriageway is cleared.”
