Dozens of homes in Trowbridge are without gas, but work is underway to restore the supply.

David Rees, Wales & West Utilities Operational Manager for Trowbridge, said: “We’re very sorry that the gas supply has been interrupted to a number of homes in the Broadmead area of Trowbridge.

“Our engineers are working to get the gas flowing to homes again safely.

“We will need to visit all affected homes to turn their gas supplies off.

“Once we have done so, we will visit each home again to safely turn their gas back on and relight their gas appliances.

“All our engineers will be carrying identification.

“When our engineers visit your home, they’ll be taking precautions to protect against Coronavirus.

“This includes:

• Washing their hands with soap and water or using hand sanitiser before entering.

• While in your home, they will wear face coverings and eye protection, and may ask you to open windows and stand in another room while they are working.

“We’ll be working around the clock to get the gas flowing again as safely and as quickly as possible, but we do not yet know how long this will take.

“We’re giving alternative heating and cooking facilities to the most vulnerable people in the area. “We’re sorry for the disruption, and we would like to thank local people in Trowbridge for bearing with us while we work to get the gas flowing again.”
