Police called and forensics investigate as ‘farmer discovers something in field’

Forensics are investigating ‘something in a field’ in Devizes, according to reports.

Police first arrived at the scene at around 3pm this afternoon (8 October), with vehicles – marked and unmarked – parked along Windsor Drive.

Locals have noticed the police presence growing over the past two hours, with crime scene investigation vehicles arriving at the incident.

It’s believed a farmer, who was said to be harvesting crops, discovered something of concern.

‘A farmer seems to have stopped whilst cutting down maise in his field when he came across something’, a local resident told Wiltshire 999s.

Adding: ‘There are many police and unmarked vehicles arriving. They seem to be investigating something in the top corner of the field.’

We have approached Wiltshire Police for comment.

FULL UPDATE: Body found ‘as farmer harvested field’ — Victoria Clements’ family informed

UPDATE 6.10PM

Most police units have now left, with just one police pick-up truck in the field. There is no sign of the farmer who stopped harvesting prior to the police arriving on scene.

UPDATE 5.45PM

Further investigation shows a number of police vehicles in a partially harvested field off Windsor Drive.

UPDATE 5.35PM

We have a reporter and photographer on scene. The final crime scene investigation van has left the scene. Only two police officers are at the location.
