RSPCA investigate report of man slapping and kicking Staffie in Swindon

The RSCPA is investigating a report of a man abusing a dog in Swindon.

The man was reportedly witnessed “screaming profanities” at the Staffordshire bull terrier whilst it was being walked at a wildlife haven in west Swindon on Sunday (3 October).

A woman who claims to have seen the incident unfold at Peatmoor Lagoon said she heard a slap before turning around to the sight of the leashed dog cowering on the ground.

Moments later, she watched as the mostly white dog was kicked. The witness said that due to the man’s behaviour, she was reluctant to intervene.

She reported the abuse to Wiltshire Police but says they ‘weren’t interested’ in the incident, and it was later reported to animal abuse charity the RSPCA.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: “We’ve received a report about the beating of a dog in the Swindon area on October 3 and are looking into it.

“Anyone with any information should contact us on 0300 1234 999.”
