Trial date for man who denies sexually assaulting woman on bus in Pewsey

A man has denied sexually assaulting a woman on a bus in Wiltshire.

24-year-old Benjamin Mortimer appeared before Swindon Magistrates’ Court Tom Saturday (11 September) where he entered a not guilty plea to the offence dating back to August 2020.

Crown prosecutor Keith Ballinger alleged the defendant, of Barnard Street, Salisbury, kissed a woman without her consent on a bus travelling through Pewsey.

It’s claimed the pair had a short conversation before the young woman put her headphones in to ignore the man.

It’s alleged that a short time later, moments before Mr Mortimer alighted the bus, he took her by the back of the head and kissed her on the forehead.

It’s said he then told her to ‘hit him up on Facebook’ before giving her his full name.

A trial date was set for 23 February at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court.
