Trowbridge shopping centre closed as police attend mental health incident

A shopping centre in Trowbridge was closed for a police incident today (2 September).

Emergency services were seen rushing into The Shires, off Bythesea Road, following reports of a person in distress.

Several police units and an ambulance were reportedly in attendance at around 12.30pm.

The shopping centre was partially evacuated and closed to shoppers for a period of time, but was soon reopened.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called to a mental health incident at the Shires shopping centre in Trowbridge at 12.20pm today (02/09).

“The incident was resolved and no further action will be taken”
