Person hit by train near Devizes – emergency services in attendance

A person has been hit by a train near Devizes.

Emergency services, including Wiltshire Air Ambulance, are in attendance of the serious incident on the train line in the Patney area.

The incident is believed to have occurred at around 11am this morning (2 September).

UPDATE: Person struck by train near Devizes has died, British Transport Police confirms

A Great Western Railway (GWR) train between Penzance and London Paddington is involved.

Delays are expected for approximately two hours whilst the British Transport Police attend the scene to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

A notice on the GWR website says: “Due to a person hit by a train between Reading and Westbury all lines are blocked.

“Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 12:00 02/09.”
