Four arrested after stabbing outside Swindon nightclub – full police statement

A 17-year-old has been stabbed during a fight outside a nightclub in Swindon’s Old Town.

As first reported by Wiltshire 999s, police were called to the scene near Tree Nightclub in Hooper Place in the early hours of this morning (28 August).

Read Wiltshire Police’s statement in full here: “We are appealing for witnesses to a disorder that took place outside the Tree Nightclub in Old Town, Swindon in the early hours this morning during which a 17-year-old youth sustained a serious stab injury.

“He was taken to hospital where he is now said to be in a stable condition.

“An 18 year old man is also being treated at hospital for an injury sustained during the incident, his injuries are not described as serious.

“Four people were arrested at the scene on suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm. They are currently in police custody.”

Detective Sergeant Justin Downes of Swindon CID said: “This was a concerning incident during which a young man suffered a potentially life-threatening injury.

“There were plenty of people outside the nightclub at the time of this incident – about 4.45am.

“We would appeal for anyone who witnessed this disorder to get in touch. We would also ask anyone who may have captured mobile phone footage of what took place not to share it, but to contact us as a matter of urgency.

“We would like to reassure the community that this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.”
