Emergency services called to Swindon flats after overpowering chemical smell

The emergency services were called to a serious incident in a block of flats last night, involving a ‘public safety concern’ according to police.

Ten police vehicles, three fire crews and two ambulances attended the incident on Wellington Street in Swindon town centre at around 10pm on Sunday.

A resident told the Wiltshire Post that an overpowering chemical smell could be smelt across a number of floors – sparking an emergency response.

Police officers, and police tape, remains at the scene this morning, alongside Swindon Borough Council’s Local Authority Incident Officer.
