Corsham cocaine addict assaulted pregnant girlfriend twice in two days

A Corsham man has been sentenced for two assaults on this pregnant girlfriend.

Cocaine addict Connor Wilcox, 23, was convicted of two charges of assault by beating after changing his plea from not guilty to guilty in June.

At Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 18 August, the court heard how the defendant, of Bath Road, Corsham, pushed his then-girlfriend over before putting his hands around her neck the following day.

The incidents happened on 15 and 16 February this year.

Appearing for sentencing, Wilcox was told he faces a real possibility of serving a prison sentence if he fails to comply with the court’s orders.

Chair of the bench Peter Wells imposed a 12-month community order with the requirement to take part in the Building Better Relationships Programme. He must also complete a drug rehabilitation programme over the course of six months.

Wilcox was given a GPS monitored curfew for three months. He must be at home for 12 hours of the day – between the hours of 6.30pm and 6.30am.

No compensation was awarded to his victim, but he was ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £95.
