Casualty rushed to hospital after being crushed by car in Bradford on Avon

A casualty was rushed to hospital after being crushed by a car in Bradford on Avon.

The injured person found themselves stuck under the vehicle on Sunday afternoon (22 August) after jacks failed to keep it off the ground as they worked underneath.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance was among the many ambulances resources sent to the incident in Winsley Road at around 4.20pm.

Firefighters from Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge attended the scene, stabilising the car to stop it from moving on top of the casualty.

After, the fire crews managed to jack the vehicle up, giving emergency services access to the patient. They were removed on the arrival of the ambulance service and taken to hospital for further assessments.

The casualty’s injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to Winsley Road, Bradford on Avon at 4.17pm yesterday where a car had come off its jacks with a man underneath.

“Two crews attended, from Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge, and they used chocks and jacks to stabilise the vehicle, allowing the casualty to be removed into the care of the ambulance service. Our stop was at 5.06pm.”

The air ambulance helicopter landed at Christchurch Primary School.
