Three fire crews called to Swindon flats after ‘smoke seen coming from roof’

Three fire engines responded to an emergency call to Isambard Place in Swindon town centre this evening, amid concerns there could be a fire.

The block of flats, on Wellington Street near the bus station, were evacuated at around 7pm for over an hour while firefighters established that the building was safe.

One resident stated that he saw smoke coming from the roof, however, the incident manager confirm to use that there was no sign of a fire.

The final fire crew left the scene at around 8.20pm.
