The River Avon is being searched in the hunt for a missing Chippenham man.

Wiltshire Search and Rescue volunteers began looking for 26-year-old Joshua Niblett this afternoon following his disappearance late last night (23 May).

Shortly before 11pm tonight, specialist teams were walking along the river in Avenue La Fleche, Gladstone Road and Lovers Walk, with their torches focused on the water.

It’s thought the volunteers will continue to search the River Avon in Monkton Park into the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Other volunteers, set up in the Chippenham Ambulance Station car park, will search woodland and fields on the north side of town. Teams were spotted earlier today in the Greenway Lane, Hill Corner Road and Bird’s Marsh area.

Joshua is described as white, around five foot six inches tall, with short blonde hair and long blonde/gingery hair. Click here for a photograph of Joshua.

He is believed to be wearing black jogging bottoms and a black sweatshirt and is possibly carrying a rucksack.

Anyone with information is asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting log 63 of today. Always call 999 in an emergency.
