Teenager airlifted to children’s hospital after serious collision in Devizes

A teenager has been airlifted to a specialist hospital following a collision in Devizes.

Wiltshire Police say they responded to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a bus in Horton Road at around 4.30pm today.

A teenage boy sustained serious injuries and was treated by local ambulance crews and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance’s critical care medics at the scene.

The casualty was airlifted to Bristol Children’s Hospital for further treatment.

Despite the police issuing a statement suggesting the collision involved a bus, one witness told Wiltshire 999s the teenager was struck by a van overtaking the stationary bus.

Road closures are in place from the roundabout with London Road and Chandlers Lane.

Witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, are asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 quoting log 203 of today’s date.

A spokesperson for the force said “We responded to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a bus in Horton Road Devizes, at about 4.30pm today (18/05).

“A teenage boy sustained serious injuries but not thought to be life threatening.

“He has been airlifted to Bristol Children’s Hospital for further treatment.

“Road closures are currently in place from the roundabout with London Road and the Chandlers Lane Junction.”
