Chippenham man charged with drink driving after call from member of the public

A man has been charged with drink driving following a call from a member of the public reporting their concerns.

Police officers responded to the report and located a vehicle in Greenway Lane, near Hill Rise, at around 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle failed a roadside breathalyser and was subsequently arrested.

After providing an evidential sample of breath in custody, 41-year-old William Hardwidge, of no fixed address, was charged with driving whilst while over the legal alcohol limit.

He has been released on unconditional bail to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court in August.
