Police have released a 48-year-old suspected of stabbing a man in Frome.
The suspect was arrested after officers were called to reports of a man having been stabbed in the neck in the Cattle Market car park shortly before 2pm on Thursday.
Despite reports on social media, the male was held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, not attempted murder. He has since been released under investigation.
Following the stabbing, a dark grey or black Volkswagen was taped off and guarded by officers ahead of forensic examination.
Police had initially cordoned off a large scene – covering a significant amount of the car park. This was later reduced to just the single-vehicle.
The victim was treated in hospital for a minor wound behind his ear. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed his injuries weren’t life-threatening or life-changing.
Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call 101 and give reference number 5221098390.
