Man accused of sexually assaulting dog walkers at Swindon park faces trial

A man has denied sexually assaulting two dog walkers at a Swindon park.

Michael Tekle, 40, appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with two counts of sexual assault following the incident in Lawn Woods.

The defendant, of Cricklade Road, allegedly touched two women sexually whilst they walked a dog on 21 January this year.

Eritrean Mr Tekle, who appeared in court assisted by a translater, denies the charges – stating he slipped and touched the women whilst attempting to stroke the dog. He denies the touching was sexual.

A trial date was set for 17 September at Swindon Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant was released on bail with conditions not to got to Lawn Woods and to live and sleep at his home address.
