Two police officers and a civilian staff member suffered minor injuries. They were checked over by medics at the scene and taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

A Wiltshire 999s reader said the police vehicle appeared as if it had rolled multiple times before coming to rest in a ditch at the roadside.

Wiltshire Police has confirmed the vehicle was involved in a driver training session at the time of the crash, and was no responding to an emergency call.

A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 12.40pm yesterday (22/04) a Wiltshire Police marked police vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the M4, close to Junction 18.

“Two police officers and a police staff member were inside the vehicle at the time, but, thankfully, nobody has been seriously injured.

“However, they were assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital as a precaution.

“The vehicle was on a training exercise at the time of the incident and was not responding to an emergency.”
