Police secure closure order on Swindon bungalow to protect victim of cuckooing

A closure order has been granted for a property in Swindon this afternoon.

PC Paul Simpson appeared before Swindon Magistrates’ Court to make an application for a partial closure order on a bungalow in Pinehurst.

He told district judge Joanna Dickens the male occupant of the property, in The Bungalows, is vulnerable and uses a wheelchair.

“Last week, he was in a vehicle – he doesn’t drive – he was with a person, a [suspected] drug dealer”, PC Simpson said. Adding: “The vehicle was stopped and class A drugs, an axe and an air weapon were found.”

He said the suspect had told officers he was living with the vulnerable man in The Bungalows.

Judge Dickens granted the partial closure order for three months.

Only selected family and friends listed on the court order, and professionals and the emergency services, are legally allowed to enter the property. Anyone else faces arrest.
