Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance lands in Chippenham for emergency

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance landed in Chippenham this afternoon.

South Western Ambulance Service was dealing with a serious medical emergency in the Redland area before the helicopter arrived at the scene.

Landing outside Redland Primary School, the yellow aircraft touched down on the green between Redland and Brook Street at around 2pm.

A team of three critical care medics attended the private medical emergency before being brought back to the helicopter in a police car a short time later.

Dozens of locals came outside to view the helicopter and take photos of it, or with it. Social distancing appeared to be observed by most of those spectating.

The aircraft took off at 2.30pm after it was found the specialist medical team weren’t required.
