Jogger struck by car in Marlborough Road reportedly dies in hospital

A jogger who was hit by a car in Swindon earlier this week has died.

The 59-year-old, named locally as Tariq Hussain, was struck by a vehicle in Marlborough Road at around 1pm on Friday afternoon.

Local ambulance crews, police and Wiltshire Air Ambulance all attended the scene. The road was closed in both directions for more than five hours whilst emergency services worked.

He was rushed to Great Western Hospital with life-threatening injuries, but was, at the time, unidentified.

Wiltshire Police launched an appeal to try and identify the jogger, which proved successful and his family were informed of the tragic accident.

Sadly, Mr Hussain was pronounced deceased on Saturday evening.
