Fire service called to rescue hamster from pipe at Highworth home

Specialist firefighters from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to assist in rescuing a hamster trapped in a pipe.

The fire service received the call from a family in Highworth at around 10.26am today.

A spokesperson said: “We received a call from a member of the public requesting assistance to remove a pet hamster who had been stuck in a pipe for some time.

“After discussion with the RSPCA a nearby animal rescue officer was mobilised.

“Before their arrival we received a further call from the owner to advise the hamster had been successfully enticed from the pipe using a sugary snack on a piece of string.”

The hamster is alive and well.
