Lines blocked after person hit by freight train at Swindon railway station

A person has been hit by a train at Swindon railway station this afternoon.

Emergency services responded to the incident at around 1.50pm following reports of a freight train colliding with a person.

The station has been evacuated whilst police, ambulance and firefighters attend the scene.

A spokesperson for Great Western Railway said: “Due to a person hit by a train between Swindon and Didcot Parkway all lines are blocked.

“Disruption is expected until 16:45 06/03.

“Train services between Swindon and Didcot Parkway will be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes.

“Train services between Swindon and Gloucester will be cancelled or delayed.”
