A man in his 40s has been arrested in Bath city centre this afternoon, following a successful sting by a ‘paedophile hunter’ based in the south west.

The man, only known as Danny Catcher, is said to have detained a man – who thought he was meeting a child for sex – on New King Street at around 2pm today.

This news comes as the same man caught a suspect yesterday at the same location.

Danny Catcher said: “At approximately 2pm this afternoon, Thursday 13 July, I confronted a man – thought to be aged in his 40s – who had visited Bath to meet a child.

“This man had been communicating with my decoy profile, and arranged to meet who he thought to be a 13-year-old girl for sexual activity.

“He was detained by myself under citizen’s arrest (Section 15 Sexual Offences Act) on New King Street and was subsequently arrested by the police who arrived just minutes after the intial 999 call regarding the incident.

“He was taken to Keynsham custody where he remains.

“I cannot comment further on this case at this time as a police investigation by Avon and Somerset Constabulary is now underway.”

Avon and Somerset Constabulary confirmed that an arrest has been made.
