Fire crews from Stratton and Royal Wootton Bassett worked to free the pair from their car, which was up against a wall, using hydraulic cutting equipment.

They were both taken to hospital for a precautionary measure.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “At 13:45 today (28/02) we were called to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Swan Lane in Leigh involving two cars.

“Two elderly people, who appeared to have suffered only minor injuries, were trapped in their vehicle following the collision as their car was against a wall.

“The road was closed for less than an hour while they were freed from their vehicle.

“Both drivers and a passenger were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure given the age of two of them and that airbags deployed in the vehicles.”
