‘Struggling’ pub’s kind gesture of free meals ‘well-received’ by ambulance crews

Ambulance crews were served up a free meal thanks to a local pub on Sunday.

South Western Ambulance Service heard about The Westbrook’s social media post offering free meals for emergency workers posted over the weekend.

Taking the Bromham-located pub up on the offer was ambulance operations officer Michael Anning, who collected ten meals — burgers and Sunday roasts — to share with his colleagues working across West Wiltshire.

“We were alerted to a post from The Westbrook offering meals to key workers. We were given ten meals which were distributed to crews in West Wiltshire”, he told Wiltshire 999s.

“We know small businesses are struggling at the moment and therefore this gesture is all the more special. The food was delicious and the owner was very kind.

“This was well received by our hard-working ambulance crews.”
