Man sat on edge of multi-storey car park sparks large emergency response

A man sat on the edge of a multi-storey car park has sparked a large emergency response this morning.

Police officers were initially called to the incident at around 10.30am following reports of a person distressed on the Brunel West car park in Swindon.

Surrounding roads have been closed whilst emergency workers liaise with the patient and try to ring him down safely.

Farnsby Street has been closed from Faringdon Road, with no access to motorists or pedestrians at this time.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has at least one fire crew at the scene.

South Western Ambulance Service has an incident commander, Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) unit and an ambulance in attendance.


UPDATE 12.30PM: The male patient has come down from the car park ledge safely. He has been taken to a place for safety for assessment.
