Police search for driver of car found embedded in Chippenham hospital hedge

Police are searching for the driver of a car found crashed in Chippenham this morning.

Officers attended the scene in Rowden Hill following a report that the vehicle – a Vauxhall Astra – had left the road and collided with a hedgerow before 6.30am.

But when police arrived, the occupant/s of the vehicle could not be located.

The car is believed to have lost control and hit a lamppost side-on before ending up embedded in a hedge on the boundary of Chippenham Community Hospital.

Wiltshire Police say efforts are ongoing to trace the driver.

“There were no people in the vehicle”, a spokesperson for the force told Wiltshire 999s. Adding: “We are currently making enquiries to trace the owner.”
