Three paramedics and police officer injured attending incident in Chippenham

Paramedics and a police officer were injured whilst attending an incident in Chippenham.

South Western Ambulance Service was dispatched to an undisclosed address in the town at around 8.45pm last night to treat a patient.

Whilst at the scene, the patient became aggressive towards the ambulance crew and police were called to provide assistance.

In total, three paramedics and one police officer – a special constable (volunteer officer) – were assaulted. Each sustained minor injuries.

A woman, in her 40s, was taken to hospital with a medical condition. At this stage, she has not been arrested for the alleged assaults.

Wiltshire Police says she will be “dealt with once her medical needs have been met”.

A spokesperson added: “The Special PC who attended was assaulted but sustained no serious injuries. The three paramedics, also assaulted, were not seriously injured.

“Our enquiries are continuing.”
