Wiltshire primary school to close for ‘at least two weeks’ over insufficient staffing levels

A school in Calne will remain closed for two weeks due to staff shortages.

Fynamore Primary School today informed parents and carers that the ‘difficult decision’ was made to move to online teaching for the next two weeks.

However, vulnerable pupils and children of keyworkers will still be able to attend as normal from Wednesday 6 January.

The closure is blamed on insufficient staffing levels, reportedly due to staff invoking their rights under Section 44 of the Employment Rights Act 1996, stating they feel it is unsafe to teach a class of children during the pandemic.
