School unable to reopen as teachers refuse to work over COVID-19 safety fears

A Swindon school is unable to open tomorrow due to most of the teaching staff refusing to work in the classroom over COVID-19 safety fears.

The staff are said to have taken their union’s advice to invoke their rights under Section 44 of the Employment Rights Act 1996, stating they feel it is unsafe to teach a class of children.

Even Swindon Primary School will stay closed tomorrow (Monday 4 January) due to ‘insufficient staffing levels’, but it’s still unclear how long it will remain shut for.
