Four boys arrested as knife and machete seized after attempted robbery in Swindon

Four boys were arrested after police were called to a report of an attempted robbery in North Swindon yesterday evening.

Local officers, supported by armed officers and a dog unit, raced to the incident near Redhouse Park at around 5.30pm, where a teenage boy was reportedly threatened at knife-point.

Near the scene, in Torun Way, four boys were stopped and searched by officers, discovering a knife and a machete – both were seized.

As a result, a 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

A 12-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were also arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.

The 13-year-old boy remains at Gablecross custody for questioning, while the other three suspects have been released under investigation.
