Road in Swindon’s Old Town closed as emergency services attend serious collision

A road in Swindon’s Old Town has been closed due to a serious collision.

Emergency services are attending the scene in Belle Vue Road following reports of a cyclist travelling down the hill and hitting car at around 6pm this evening.

Two ambulances, an ambulance rapid response vehicle and several police vehicles – including at least one from the Roads Policing Unit – are at the incident.

The casualty is being treated for head injuries.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We are currently dealing with a road traffic collision involving a cyclist and a car in Drove Road on the junction with Belle Vue Road, Old Town, Swindon.

“Road closures are currently in place. We ask that motorists please avoid this area if possible.

“Any witnesses or drivers with dash cam footage of the incident should call 101 quoting log number 0217 of today (17/11).”
