Man jailed for stabbing after being stopped by Wiltshire police officers on M4

A man’s been jailed for stabbing a woman after a vehicle he was travelling in was stopped by Wiltshire police officers on M4 earlier this year.

27-year-old Jeremy Lenohin – known as ‘H’ – was arrested in the county as he left Wales in the morning after a woman was knifed multiple times in her Cardiff home on 5 June.

Detectives had launched a manhunt for the suspect, before identifying Lenohin as a person of interest. A marker was put on his vehicle, which meant it was swiftly stopped.

In the early hours of Saturday 6 June, his Mercedes was stopped by Wiltshire Police and Lenohin was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding and brought back to Cardiff for interview.

Later that morning a large blood-stained kitchen knife – with the victim’s DNA – was found by a member of public in a gutter. Lenohin initially denied involvement but on Monday 9 November he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The victim and the defendant were known to each other and the stabbing followed a dispute at the property where a number of other individuals were present.
