A man who threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend has avoided a jail sentence.

Danny Devlin, of Tattershall, Toothill, pleaded guilty to sending a grossly offensive message via a public electronic communications network at Swindon Magistrates Court last Thursday.

The 27-year-old admitted making a phone call in which he threatened to ‘slit the throat’ and ‘end the life’ of his victim, his former partner, on 26 July 2020.

Devlin also pleaded guilty to driving a BMW 120D on Rivenhall Road, Westlea, on 16 May 2020 whilst under the influence of drugs – namely cannabis.

He was disqualified from driving for 12 months.

He denies one other charge, of dangerous driving in Middleaze Drive. The case was adjourned until 14 November for a case management hearing.
