Police arrest man after woman seriously injured central Swindon assault

A woman’s been taken to hospital with a serious injury following an assault in central Swindon this morning.

Police were sent to reports of a disorder in the Railway Village at around 11.20am.

On arrival at the scene in Exeter Street, officers found a woman in her 60s with a serious eye injury. She has been taken to hospital for treatment.

A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in custody at Gablecross Police Station this afternoon.
