Man arrested after emergency services called to ‘welfare incident’ in Swindon

A man’s been arrested following an incident at an address in Swindon this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Meadowcroft, Upper Stratton, at around 8am following a call to Wiltshire Police expressing concern for the safety of a person

Due to the threats made by the person, the fire service was in attendance. The exact nature of those threats are unknown, but neighbours have told Wiltshire 999s that they can smell a chemical and every one of the property’s windows are now open.

The incident was resolved a short time later, with no one suffering any injuries.

“A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of threatening to commit criminal damage and is currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station”, a police spokesperson said.
